The Ekoplan is not just a simple map of Maastricht, but it locates all the fair-trade, organic and alternative businesses and initiatives in the city. It is the perfect guide for those looking for alternatives to the mainstream supermarkets and who want to get local and sustainable products. The Ekoplan was first developed by a group of students and printed in 2007. However there have been many changes, so the time has come to make an update. This project is open to all students, whether you belong to a student organization or not. So far, members representative of oikos, the Studentworkforce and NovUm have been involved. As it is an initiative that concerns all students in Maastricht and that a lot of people will be needed to gather information, we encourage other organizations to get involved.

In January 2011, the Green Office involves students from a Think Tank Project at the University College Maastricht (UCM) to gain an overview of what actually is possible in terms of energy efficiency at the university.

The students will research the current energy consumption and develop a plan on how Maastricht University can fulfill its energy commitment. The results of this research project are very important to decrease the ecological footprint of Maastricht University in a strategic and collaborative way.

The report aims to compile an overview about the university's carbon footprint and climate commitments, as well as educational and research programs and student groups active in the field of sustainability.

At this point, Maastricht University still lacks a coherent and comprehensive overview describing its efforts to promote sustainability. The Climate Action Report aims to compile an overview about the university’s carbon footprint and climate commitments, as well as educational and research programs and student groups active in the field of sustainability. These findings will then be used as a baseline to further improve the standing of the university in those areas.

The Green Office Maastricht and oikos Maastricht – a newly established chapter of a worldwide student organization promoting themes of sustainability among students – cooperate to realize this project. Students from all faculties are welcomed to join in this collective effort.

The Crtl Alt Delete Emissions project is focused on reducing carbon emissions through targeting the ICT sector at Maastricht University.

The Crtl Alt Delete Emissions program is a project that is going to work towards reducing energy consumption used by computers. There is a lot of potential for improvements in the ICT sector, which is why the Green Office focuses on this as one of its first major internal projects.

Our efforts are inspired by a project that has been initiated by students at the University of Amsterdam. By installing PC Power Management systems and exchanging lightbulbs, the project achieved energy savings of 53% in two large computer rooms. These energy savings result in an annual cost reduction of over 10.000 Euros per year for the university.
